Simone's research activity explores two major, somehow distinct  but interrelated, areas and issues: Italian criminal procedure (guarantees granted to the person under investigation and to the defendant with reference to precautionary measures, evidence, and appeal procedures) and European criminal procedure (European Convention on Human Rights, relations between the Italian criminal legal system and the system of the European Convention, supranational dimension of the criminal procedure legal mechanisms, international judicial cooperation).
